Time Out Mission International
Encouraging Intimacy, Uniting the Church, Empowering for MissionTHE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE CALLED AND THE CHOSEN (PT4)
So the last shall be first, and the first last: FOR MANY be called, BUT FEW chosen. (Matt20:16)
To be called is different from being chosen and commissioned by God to undertake an assignment on his behalf. This is the focus of these series of articles I have been writing for some time now. To fully understand this message, you would have to read the entire articles beginning from the first.
In our last article, the focus was on the ADONIJAH’S SYNDRONE which is a syndrome of self promotion and self appointment, and I promised to show us how the failure of David to stand up as a father to rebuke ADONIJAH, led to the attempt by him to take-up the office of king over Israel which was not his destiny at that time. Thus, the part 4 of our message;
DAVID'S COMPLACENCY!!!!!!
Leaders are supposed to give direction and also to establish order through the right succession; for success without a successor is equal to failure. Father’s in the body of Christ are those called and chosen by God to administer to the body and to preserve the sanctity and order of ministry by preparing/ releasing the next generation of God’s generals before their exit. Failure to do the above, will naturally lead to a situation where the ADONIJAH’S will fill the whole place with their schemes. David would have failed in his ministry towards the end of his life as a result of his complacency to establish the right succession for Israel but thanks to Godly men like Nathan the prophet.
Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, I will be king: and he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him. And his father had not displeased him at any time in saying, Why hast thou done so? and he also [was a] very goodly [man]; and [his mother] bare him after Absalom.And he conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest: and they following Adonijah helped [him].But Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty men which [belonged] to David, were not with Adonijah. And Adonijah slew sheep and oxen and fat cattle by the stone of Zoheleth, which [is] by Enrogel, and called all his brethren the king's sons, and all the men of Judah the king's servants: 1kg 1:5-10
And his father had not displeased him at any time in saying, Why hast thou done so?
God is a God of order; any result in the kingdom birth out of disorder won’t last. It might go on for a while but will definitely fizzle out sooner or later. The Adonijah’s can’t have enduring impact and legacy because their ministries are illegitimate, born out of mere ambition for visibility, fame, quick money and self aggrandizement.
Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, I will be king: and he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him. What actually fueled the Adonijah’s drive to be King of Israel? David complacency!
David never became King of Israel by mere Ambition; (1Sam 16:13) he was handpicked by the hand of the almighty God from among his brethren and released into ministry by Prophet Samuel who was then a FATHER in the Land and it ought to have been David’s priority to pass on the mantle to the next generation according to divine order. This he didn’t do on time until situations got out of hand; but for the Godly intervention of Nathan the prophet, I wonder what would have become of the story of Israel with Adonijah as king. A golden era of wisdom to be ushered by Solomon, God’s man for the hour, would have been aborted. The scriptures say, all the while Adonijah was carryout his propaganda, David remained silent; he never for once called Adonijah to order.
ARE THE FATHERS OF TODAY ALREADY PLAYING THE CARD OF DAVID’S COMPLACENCY? HOW LONG WILL THE SOLOMON’S WAIT AS A RESULT OF THE COMPLACENCY OF THE FATHERS IN A DESPENSATION WHEN THE ADONIJAH’S ARE FAST BECOMING AN ORGANISED NETWORK?
God! Raise some prophet Nathan’s who can’t be bought over by envelopes of cash or by gifts of material things to ordain the Adonijah’s at the detriment of the health and destiny of the Church. Too many Adonijah’s today, parading our streets, claiming to have been commissioned by God, but with terrible double standard. Where are the Samuel’s, who will refuse to anoint the Eliab”s, Abinadab”s, Shammah’s no matter their outward looks. ( 1 Samuel 16)
The Church today is greatly lacking in GENIUNE FATHER’S with a greater body consciousness and discernment than that of their little denominations and cliques. This lack has created a platform with many today masquerading as fathers but with little or no authority to provide leadership to the body of Christ. We need the father’s anointing again in the body of Christ to establish proper succession and to prepare/ release the next generation of world changers into their ministries. The ministry of any genuine father is incomplete if such fails to establish genuine succession and to pass on the mantle to the next generation of God’s generals.
When David rose up to the need of the time, the camp of Adonijah suffered a great lost.
And Adonijah and all the guests that [were] with him heard [it] as they had made an end of eating. And when Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, Wherefore [is this] noise of the city being in an uproar? And while he yet spake, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came: and Adonijah said unto him, Come in; for thou [art] a valiant man, and bringest good tidings. And Jonathan answered and said to Adonijah, Verily our lord king David hath made Solomon king. And the king hath sent with him Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, and they have caused him to ride upon the king's mule: And Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king in Gihon: and they are come up from thence rejoicing, so that the city rang again. This [is] the noise that ye have heard.And also Solomon sitteth on the throne of the kingdom. And moreover the king's servants came to bless our lord king David, saying, God make the name of Solomon better than thy name, and make his throne greater than thy throne. And the king bowed himself upon the bed. And also thus said the king, Blessed [be] the LORD God of Israel, which hath given [one] to sit on my throne this day, mine eyes even seeing [it]. And all the guests that [were] with Adonijah were afraid, and rose up, and went every man his way. IKg 1:49)
Hear ye the word of the Lord, the days of the Adonijah’s are numbered. God is stemming the tides of the Adonijah’s within the body of Christ. Very soon, the prophetic and Apostolic madness ravaging the Church the world over will be cured. Those operating under these titles, but not commissioned by God, will have no hiding place as their folly will be made manifest.
